How to connect a Sony Handycam camcorder to a computer with Vista?

When I connect my video camera to my computer, it can’t recognize the camera. I have the software installed and updated and USB streaming turned on. Any ideas of how to get my computer to recognize it?
Thanks…looks like I’ll have to get a card for 4-pin firewire…My computer has one with 6-pin.

If your computer has a 6-pin firewire port, then just get a 4-pin (DV port on the camcorder) to 6-pin (computer firewire port) cable.
