What impact might have only a single unit the functions of the computer and take the speed?

I am considering an external drive storage of all unrelated to the windows, ie, games, information kits, etc, and wonder whether to reformat my computer to incorporate a great memory all C: drive instead of dividing the memory in a C: and D: drive is causing more problems than it's worth it.

Performancewise, there's really no difference between having a partitioned drive as a single partition or multiple partitions. When you notice a difference is if you were to add an additional drive (not just another partition), something like what you are doing with the external drive. This would allow the system to access files on the system disk at the same time as it is to access files on your data disk. Since the system is almost always sharing things with the page file, with a second physical drive is beneficial. The key is make sure your unit is not necessarily second slower. If you want to have an external hard drive, check if your system has E-SATA port. That will be faster to USB (but it is not so common.)
